The Love Of God

"I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me.  To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'  All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations - a people who continually provoke me to my very face." (Isaiah 65:1-3a)

The above verses reveal God's reaction to the wayward Israelites as recorded by the Prophet Isaiah.  But doesn't this sound descriptive of us all?  God created us "and it was very good."  Then "the fall" of mankind occurred.  God allowed sin to enter His perfect creation so that we might have a choice.  God is the most perfect gentleman.  He will not force Himself on us.  He has "held out (His) hands to (us) obstinate people."  And yet we "continually provoke (God) to (His) very face."

In fact, God has not only reached out to us, He has revealed Himself to us through His only begotten Son who was born, lived, and died on the Cross so that we might have the opportunity to choose God.  That fact that God in human form (Jesus) revealed Himself to us (the wayward humanity) is the greatest expression of Love.  God's sacrifice of Himself on behalf of a people who continually ignore or outright reject that sacrifice is the highest standard of Love.  No other love even comes close.

Jesus willingly died on the Cross so that we might be forgiven.  "Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin." (Hebrews 9:22)  "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)  "Greater love has no one than this:  to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13)  Jesus chose to offer His life for us even though we have chosen to ignore God and live life our own way.  The good news is that we can be made right with God through the redemption that comes only by way of the Cross of Christ.

Choose God by recognizing His unsurpassed expression of Love and choose His plan of redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.  "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)
